Does this sound ok ? early morning run w/o food first?

I'm starting my new workout plan tomorow (which I programmed myself [: ) and I'm going to be running at 5 A.M. I plan to run about 3 miles, come home to sleep a couple hours, then eat a break fast of something like oatmeal, poached egg white, whole grain english muffin, and an apple and orange. I heard that if you run in the monring while glycogen levels are low without eating before hand, it taps into burning fat for energy? or does it burn muscle mass.. i've heard both and I need a considerable source. I heard that it does indeed burn fat from a study shown in msnbc.com, but I'm not sure what's true..anyways please tell me what you think thanks!! all comments welcome
